A Day Of Zero Tolerance To Violence Against FGM Towards Its Elimination By 2030

INTRODUCTION: The program started at exactly 8:16 with an introduction of the arrival of CPN membersby the principal of Urban day Grammar School.

WELCOME SPEECH: Alhaji I.G. Yusuf from CDCF welcomed the staff and students of Urban Day Grammar School to the sensitization on ZERO TOLERANCE TO VIOLENCE AGAINST FGM TOWARDS IT’S ELIMINATION BY 2030. He further introduced the members of Child Protection Network present to the school and introduced the two speakers to speak on FGM.

The two speakers (Oyediran Maryam & Gbemisola Oyeniyi) spoke on what is FGM and the effects of FGM to our young girls.It was said that the common believe in carrying out FGM is so that the young girls will not be interested in sexual intercourse with men at tender age which was emphasized as a misconception. The following effects of FGM was therefore highlighted.

  1. Virginal Infection
  2. Chronic pain
  3. Infertility
  4. Difficult labour
  5. Female sexual function
  6. Psychological impact.

Also, Jayeoba Olawale and Alhaji I.G. Yussuf sensitized on different types of violence against women which are physical, economic, sexual, emotional and psychological violence.

CONCLUSION: The program was concluded with an evaluation process by asking the students some questions on things they have learnt from all the talks.

CLOSING: The program ended with a vote of thanks from one of the staff and group photograph at exactly 10:30am.
